images/NAKHE-2021-Color-Vert-200X117.pngI have been busy working on the details for our upcoming conference in New Orleans, LA! Our conference will be held at the New Orleans Intercontinental Hotel, January 6-9, 2021. Now is the time to start thinking about presenting! We want to hear about the good things you are doing, whether it be related to teaching, research, service, or administration.

This year’s conference theme is Supporting Faculty through Effective Leadership: The Work Beyond the Work. The 2021 NAKHE Conference will focus on how leaders can effectively support their faculty in areas outside of teaching, scholarship, and service. Special attention will be paid to legal and ethical aspects of the work environment, open communication between faculty and administrators, and understanding inclusive excellence. The conference strands are:

  • Asking the Right Questions and Giving the Right Answers: in this strand, presentations will focus on how faculty can effectively request support from administration, navigate communication issues, and clarify role responsibilities.
  • Legal and Ethical Aspects: in this strand, presentations will focus on how faculty can effectively navigate requesting family or medical leave, report harassment or other violations of faculty handbook, and utilize on-campus resources.
  • Faculty Development: in this strand, presentations will focus on developing administrators’ skills in the areas of supporting faculty.

As with other conferences, we will have open general sessions for those that want to share ideas that do not directly relate to the conference theme. We will also have sessions geared towards Instructional Physical Activity Programs and Coaching Education. I’m hoping to have a deadline set for submissions in the next edition of our Magazine. For now, get excited! New Orleans is going to be our best conference yet!
