Job Description / Duties

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Department of Kinesiology at UAH invites applications for a 9-month Visiting Lecturer of Exercise Science with an expected start date in Fall 2022. Duties include providing quality instruction within undergraduate courses, participation in professional service that continues the advancement of the department, and demonstrating collegiality in all aspects of professional engagement. The successful candidate will be asked to teach no more than 4 courses within the undergraduate Exercise Science concentration per semester. Specialties for the position may include exercise physiology, applied experience in human performance assessment, sports science, and nutrition.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Required Qualifications:
*Earned doctorate (ABD considered if completed by August 2022) in Exercise Science, Sports Science, Nutrition, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:
*Experience teaching university students in online, hybrid, and/or face-to-face modalities
*Potential to collaborate with other units and colleagues within the university and community
*Knowledge of maintaining and use of human performance laboratory equipment (EMG, force plates, metabolic cart, etc.)

Additional Information

Rank and Salary: This is a temporary 9-month appointment at the rank of Lecturer (non-tenured). Salary will be competitive and commensurate to rank, experience, and qualifications. An excellent comprehensive benefits package is available.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Kinesiology is authorized to award a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with concentrations in Exercise Science and Physical Education, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports & Fitness Management. Pending final approval, beginning in the Fall of 2022, the Department will begin delivering courses for a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with a focus on Sports Science. Both the Exercise Science concentration and Sports Science graduate program are designed to align with the standards of the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association, which will soon offer a certification specifically for Performance and Sport Science.
