Job Description / Duties

MSSU is currently seeking candidates for Physical Education Teacher Education/Health Promotion and Wellness tenure track Assistant Professor Position in the Kinesiology Department starting August 2019 in Joplin, Missouri. Qualified faculty will teach undergraduate in face-to-face, hybrid and online formats. Teaching responsibilities for the position include professional sequence coursework required for the physical education teacher education candidates. Applicants should have relevant experience in physical education pedagogy and curriculum, as well as coaching education. Other responsibilities will include student advisement, candidate assessment, field experiences, outreach and collaboration with community partners, active participation in department, school, university, and community service, as well as faculty research. Faculty facilitation and advisement of student research in the area of best practices in physical education is encouraged. The successful finalists will be asked to present a lesson to a college class.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The position requires a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and advising at the undergraduate level. A terminal degree in a related field is preferred, ABD and Master’s degree in a related discipline is considered with a commitment to pursue/complete a doctorate, the ability to work cooperatively as a faculty team member, and willingness to invest in the use of current best practices and 21st century technology is critical.
