Job Description / Duties

The Kinesiology department at Emmanuel College seeks a Faculty Program Coordinator to teach in and provide administrative support for the newly approved master’s program. The Master of Exercise Science Program prepares students for the American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Physiologist (ACSMEP) certification. The second track prepares students for the National Strength and Conditioning, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification. The new Program Coordinator will be arriving
at an exciting time in the history of Emmanuel College and will play a key role in the development and implementation of Emmanuel College’s first graduate programs.

The Program Coordinator is an 11-month position and has a preferred start date of January 2022. The Program Coordinator will begin curricular development at the time of hire. Of note, the views and values of the candidate must align with the College’s published mission statement, statement of faith, lifestyle expectations, and civic values.

The Program Coordinator will have the following faculty and administrative responsibilities:
Faculty Responsibilities
• Developing online courses for the program.
• Teaching 4 graduate courses (12 credit hours) per year
• Advising students
• Providing input on the curriculum and new course developments to ensure the delivery of quality programs
• Opportunities to teach in the undergraduate program, as desired or as needed
• Other academic duties normally performed by full-time or regular part-time faculty, such as participating on committees and in other academic service

Administrative Responsibilities
• Assisting with the marketing of the program and recruiting of students
• Assisting with management and administrative work of the program
• Participating in adjunct faculty hiring and development
• Other administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications
• A doctorate degree in Exercise Science or related field is preferred; ABD candidates considered
• ACSM CP or NSCA CSCS certifications
• The ability to teach a variety of graduate courses in areas of Kinesiology
• A willingness to teach undergraduate courses
• A deep personal faith in and commitment to Jesus Christ is essential

Preferred Qualifications
• Teaching experience at the graduate and/or undergraduate level
• Experience with Canvas or related LMS
• Related work experience
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in an environment with competing demands and multiple deadlines
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience performing administrative work in an academic setting
