Job Description / Duties

Springfield College invites applications for the Director of Educator Preparation and Licensure. This is a 12-month staff position with a secondary faculty appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The Director leads, administers and serves over 25 licensure programs across multiple departments and schools at the College. As the primary licensure officer, the Director audits program requirements, endorses candidates for Massachusetts DESE licensure, and maintains all official candidate records, state, federal and licensure testing data. The Director has prime responsibility for securing appropriate practicum placements and the supervision and training of qualified supervisors. With the assistance of two staff members, the Director ensures that the College remains in compliance with all teacher accreditation standards.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Required Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in education or related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience with educator licensure
Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching in a PK-12 grade setting
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in full-time college teaching and demonstrated achievement in the candidate's field of specialization
Demonstrated success at leading diverse teams
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with program review and reporting
Deep understanding of educator licensure
Understanding of Massachusetts' teacher education requirements
Experience training supervisors of student teachers
Experience in leading others strategically for continuous improvement
Experience in grant writing
Evidence of collaborating with community, local school districts, and state agencies
