ABOUT THE POSITION: The Department of Kinesiology at The University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for a full‐time, renewable non‐tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor in
Sport and Fitness Management. We seek applicants that welcome the opportunity to contribute to an emerging and vibrant academically diverse department.
Responsibilities: Teach courses in the Sport and Fitness Management program. Actively conduct, publish, and present quality applied research in a collegial environment in which both intra‐ and
inter‐disciplinary collaborations are highly valued. Participate impactfully in the sport management profession, contribute to university service, and engage in outreach to the region’s
businesses, governments, and the community at large.
TITLE: Clinical Assistant Professor of Sport and Fitness Management (non‐tenure track).
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Department of Kinesiology is seeking a non‐tenure‐track Clinical Assistant Professor of Sport and Fitness Management. Duties include teaching 9‐12 hours per semester, engaging in scholarly activities, and professional service such as serving on departmental, college and university‐wide committees. The candidate will teach courses in the undergraduate sport and fitness management concentration which may include, but is not
limited to, Facilities and Equipment Management, Sport Marketing, Sport and Fitness Management, Sport Law, Sociology in Sport, and Financial Matters in Sport. Additional responsibilities include establishing connections with potential internship and occupational sites for undergraduate students, undergraduate curriculum development, and performing other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Education. The ideal candidate is committed to
effective learning, student mentoring, curriculum development, professional scholarly activity, and enjoy the opportunity to contribute to an emerging and vibrant academically diverse
department.
Rank and Salary: This is a non‐tenure‐track faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate to rank, experience, and
qualifications.
Appointment Date: Anticipated start date is August 2, 2021.

Qualifications / Required Skills
Qualifications: A candidate must have an earned Doctorate in Sport Management or a closely related discipline. Candidates with prior high level substantive practitioner experience in the sport or fitness industry, and teaching experience at the undergraduate level, are optimal. Evidence of the ability to develop, implement and build sustainable collaborative relationships with business entities and government agencies is expected.
Required Qualifications:
● Earned doctorate in Sport Management, or a related field
● Experience teaching university students in sport management, athletic administration, or a related field
● Demonstrated evidence of scholarship (published, in press, presentations)
● Demonstrated evidence of ability to pursue a research agenda in Sport Management.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Capacity in developing sport management undergraduate courses that link to COSMA accreditation guidelines
● Capacity to develop learning outcomes and map them to assessment tasks
● Capacity to deliver course content in online, blended/hybrid learning environments using the CANVAS learning platform
● Capacity to collaborate with other units and colleagues within the university and community for research, service, and professional development purposes
● Demonstrated potential in grant writing and implementation
● Evidence of active participation in pertinent professional organizations
● Capacity and interest to develop and teach graduate level courses
● Evidence of high‐level substantive practitioner experience in the sport or fitness industry
● Evidence of the ability to develop, implement and build sustainable collaborative relationships with business entities and government agencies.

Two undergraduate degrees are offered, a B.S. in Kinesiology and a B.S. in Sport and Fitness Management. A Master of Arts in Teaching (P‐12) with a concentration in Physical Education is offered and a Master of Science degree program in kinesiology will be launched soon.
As an emerging department of approximately 250 majors, the Kinesiology department has a student and staff population of diverse interests. As significant further departmental growth is expected, the ideal candidate will share in the department’s commitment to the success of a diverse population.

Additional Information: The Sport and Fitness Management program (SFM) is entering its third year of operation. As a four‐year Bachelor of Science Program SFM is designed to prepare students for job ready entry into management, marketing, and administration positions of sport programs in educational and sport business settings. Program outcomes align with the standards of key professional associations such as the Commission of Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA).
