Job Description / Duties

The School of Health and Applied Human Sciences (SHAHS) in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for the Associate School Director for Quality Assurance. In collaboration with the School Director, the Associate School Director for Quality Assurance will provide leadership within the SHAHS for programs and efforts related to diversity, equity and inclusion; accreditation; community engagement; assessment and program development; student recruitment and course quality; and teaching effectiveness. The successful candidate will also teach courses in their area of expertise, and depending on rank, will maintain a focused line of scholarly inquiry and publication, actively procure grants, and engage in service appropriate to support the school and the college.

The Associate School Director for Quality Assurance is a full-time, 12-month administrative appointment. This successful candidate will be expected to reside in Southeastern North Carolina and maintain a year-round campus presence as part of the School faculty. The Associate School Director for Quality Assurance will report to the Director of the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences.

Qualifications / Required Skills

All applicants must have the following qualifications:
Master’s degree or a Terminal degree in a discipline within the school or in a closely-related field.
At least 3-years of successful experience in an administrative role in Higher Education.
Evidence of impactful contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion in administrative role.
Evidence of successful college teaching in a discipline within the school or in a closely-related field both face-to-face and online.
Preference will be given to candidates who have the following qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with constituents across the college and university.
Experience in academic program development.
Experience in program assessment.
Evidence of leadership in developing and implementing impactful community engagement partnerships.
Demonstrated success in leadership role in program-level accreditation processes.
Demonstrated success in student recruitment.
Experience in the assessment of course quality and teaching effectiveness.
For Candidates who may qualify at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with Tenure, preference will also be given for:
A substantial scholarly record, including recent publications and secured grants
