Job Description / Duties

The Department of Sport and Exercise Studies at Randolph College invites applicants with a Ph.D. or ABD with a completion date prior to July 2025 in kinesiology, exercise science/studies or related fields for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor. Date of employment is July 2025; report date is mid-August. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in teaching a range of undergraduate courses including motor development, wellness, exercise adherence and compliance, strength and conditioning, sport and exercise management, and potentially other sport and exercise related courses. We are interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching, research, and service, and demonstrate evidence and commitment to student-centered and inclusive teaching practices.

Responsibilities include, engaging in scholarly activities, serving on college committees, participating in college service, and assisting in the academic advising and continued development of the sport and exercise studies program. Tenure track faculty teach six courses per academic year, three per semester. The College’s innovative TAKE2 curriculum includes 4 seven-week sessions in an academic year allowing students to sharpen their focus with immersive learning, gain life balance with a more flexible schedule, and most importantly, thrive within a supportive student-centered environment. Opportunities for new course development are available.

The faculty member is expected to teach, and engage in scholarly activities, college committee’s and service to the community. The faculty member will also advise sport and exercise studies students.

Required education and experience

Ph.D. or ABD with a completion date prior to July 2025 in the areas of exercise science/studies, kinesiology, or related fields.



Preferred education and experience

Teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
