Job Description / Duties
The Assistant Professor of Health Education is a nine-month, tenure-track appointment within the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. The successful applicant will have expertise in the field, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and a strong commitment to scholarly and service activities are expected. Preference will be given to candidates who can bring diverse perspectives to this growing department and who are motivated to help students succeed. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate health education and health promotion courses required for health education teacher education certification as well as preparation for the Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) exam. Specific course assignments will fall within the following content areas: instructional strategies, consumer health, family dynamics, wellness, human sexuality, and/or physical activity.
Additional responsibilities include supervision of student teachers and/or fieldwork students, academic advisement and graduate research advisement at both the masters and doctoral level. School and/or community based experience is required.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Interested candidates for this position will have an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in Health Education or related discipline. Applicants who are ABD for the terminal degree may be considered depending on expected completion date.
