Job Description / Duties

The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about the use of student focused pedagogy in the classroom in order to engage students in the learning process and will join a unit that is dedicated to providing student with access to high impact practices aimed at increasing student retention, persistence, and success. Responsibilities include teaching in the Physical Education program; department/college/university and community service, scholarship related to discipline; undergraduate/graduate advisement; development and supervision of internship/practicum; supervision or research projects or thesis, collaborate on external funding opportunities; and courses may include the areas of individual/dual sports, organization and administration of physical activity/sport, sport officiating, coaching theory, weight training, outdoor leisure, and healthy lifestyles.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Recreation or closely related field
• Potential for or evidence of innovative, learner-centered pedagogy
• Ability to teach courses in Physical Education
• The ability or potential to mentor and support diverse student populations
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

The faculty of the Department of Kinesiology at Missouri State University (MSU) are searching for a colleague to join our Recreation, Sport, and Park Administration program. The position is for a tenure track, nine-month appointment at the Assistant Professor rank. MSU has a Public Affairs Mission and is committed to the pillars of Cultural Competence, Ethical Leadership and Community Engagement. We currently enroll more than 24,000 students (approximately 20,000 undergraduates and 4,000 graduate students). The Department of Kinesiology has 25 full time faculty members, 25 graduate students enrolled in Health Promotion and Wellness program, and approximately 800 undergraduate majors.
