Job Description / Duties

The Department of Human Movement Sciences at ODU seeks a full-time, tenure track assistant professor. Duties include teaching courses in the Health & Physical Education curriculum, developing and maintaining a nationally visible research program, and service to the university, profession, and community. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and a willingness to work in a multicultural setting. Qualifications / Required Skills

A strong commitment to scholarship, research, and grant writing, and the ability to employ effective teaching practices.
Show a strong record of empirical research publications and/or potential to develop and maintain a nationally visible research agenda, including grant submissions and successes.
Ability to teach a variety of health & physical education courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate (MS and PhD) student research, serve on committees, and participate in program governance, decision-making, and professional leadership.

A doctoral degree in Health and Physical Education or a closely related field (ABD with a completion date prior to July 15th, 2023 considered).

Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications
A record of publishing scholarly articles in recognized journals
A well-defined research expertise within health and physical education, physical activity, or a related area
Ability to recruit and supervise doctoral students in physical education or adapted physical activity/education supported through current/future external funding
Having experiences and interest in collaborative research and grant writing to support research and graduate student training
An ability to teach a variety of courses within the health and physical education graduate and undergraduate programs.
