Job Description / Duties

The School of Health and Applied Human Sciences at UNC Wilmington seeks an outstanding faculty member for an Assistant Professor, nine-month tenure-track position in the School’s Healthful Living & Fitness Education (formerly known as Physical Education & Health) degree program beginning August 2022.
The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, including, but not limited to, k-12 pedagogy / methods courses , motor behavior, curriculum development, and intern supervision. Further, the successful candidate will conduct research, publish, write grants, advise students, and provide community engagement and professional service.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Physical Education & Health Teacher Education or related field (ABD strongly considered) with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework closely related to Physical Education & Health Teacher Education.
Evidence of successful college teaching experience in a Healthful Living & Fitness Education (Physical Education & Health) or closely related curriculum both face-to-face and online.
Academic preparation and professional experiences that contribute to the ability to teach k-12 methods courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of successful college teaching experiences in k-12 methods courses.
Evidence of successful college teaching experience in Motor Control / Motor Learning / Motor Behavior.
Evidence of successful college teaching experience in a variety of Healthful Living & Fitness Education courses.
Commitment to a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Experience teaching Health and/or Physical Education in a k-12 school setting.
Experience with edTPA supervision and assessment.
Demonstrated potential to develop a successful research program and grant activity in Healthful Living and Fitness Education.
Evidence of a commitment to promoting undergraduate student scholarly activity.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with constituents across the college and university.
