Job Description / Duties
We invite applications for a Non-Tenure-Line Assistant or Associate Lecturer in Exercise Science in the School of Kinesiology. Candidates with a doctorate may be considered for the rank of Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor. The successful candidate will provide high quality teaching in the undergraduate Exercise Science program. Potential courses include applied strength and conditioning for sport performance, exercise prescription, human performance assessments, anatomy, and/or other courses based upon knowledge and expertise. Active engagement in department, college, University, and professional service activities is also expected.

This opportunity is for one academic year with the possibility of renewal beginning August 18, 2023. Salary begins at $48,000.

Position Function: The teaching load is 12 semester hours or equivalent per academic semester. Potential courses include applied strength and conditioning for sport performance, exercise prescription, human performance assessments, anatomy, and/or other courses based upon knowledge and expertise. The faculty member will be asked to promote and implement high impact pedagogical practices to support engaged teaching and learning, demonstrate collaboration, collegiality, and support program excellence, and perform other related duties as assigned by the School Chair. Active engagement in department, college, University, and professional service activities is also expected.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a master’s degree in exercise science, biomechanics, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or closely related field from an accredited college or university by time of appointment. Teaching experience in higher education and the ability to teach courses in exercise science using a variety of instructional strategies, including online, face-to-face, experiential and field-based learning are also required.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will hold a professional certification related to sport performance or strength and conditioning. Additional consideration will be given to applicants who have experience and expertise leading strength and conditioning and sport performance programming for athletes, experience with biomechanical analysis and assessment of movement for corrective exercise, and who have experience teaching courses related to sport performance, movement and performance assessments, and exercise prescription.
