Job Description / Duties
The Kinesiology Department at Southwestern University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Kinesiology position to begin in August 2023. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to teaching undergraduate kinesiology courses and fostering undergraduate research in a liberal arts environment. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: motor behavior, adapted fitness, health & wellness, public health, or anatomy & physiology.

Southwestern University embraces the teacher-scholar model. Excellence in teaching is the central criterion for faculty evaluation at Southwestern. Primary teaching responsibilities will relate to the candidate’s field of expertise. In addition, the successful candidate may contribute to courses in anatomy & physiology, health & fitness, or research methods. The University’s standard teaching load is five courses per academic year (3-2 or 2-3). Faculty are expected to maintain a research program involving undergraduate students that results in peer-reviewed publications. The successful candidate will be expected to actively contribute to university and departmental service and participate in academic advising and retention initiatives.

To apply: Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Kinesiology or closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered but the degree must be completed by August 2023.
