The NAKHE Nominations and Elections Committee is now seeking nominations for the offices of President-Elect, Vice President-Elect, and Secretary.

The NAKHE Nominations and Elections Committee is now seeking nominations for the offices of President-Elect, Vice President-Elect, and Secretary (see below for the term length and key responsibilities of each).

Are you interested in one of these positions, or perhaps you know another NAKHE member who you believe would be great at one of these positions? If so, please email the Nominations and Elections Committee Chair (Beth Hersman - bethany.hersman@wright.edu) with your nomination or any questions. Self-nominations are welcomed. Clearly indicate your preferred contact email and office of interest. Please review each officer position's respective NAKHE Operating Code (https://www.nakhe.org/operating_codes.html).

Here are a few comments from NAKHE members who have recently held these roles that might help give you some insight into these positions and the benefits of taking on such responsibilities within NAKHE.

Tan Leng Goh (outgoing Secretary):

“I really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know so many professionals within the field through serving on the board (as Secretary). This was my first position serving on a professional organization board. I felt that I wanted to stay more involved and connected with NAKHE and serving on the board provided that opportunity. It also helped me to see how a professional organization functions and helped me hone my leadership skills.”

Tim Baghurst (Past President and Former Vice-President):

“I served as a vice president from 2018-2021 and have been serving as a president since 2022. I decided to run because I wanted the opportunity to be in a leadership role beyond my academic institution where I hadn’t been given many leadership opportunities. I wanted a new challenge! It’s one I’ve never regretted. Did I have to work and work hard? Sure did. Were there unexpected bumps along the way? Of course, because that’s to be expected. But I’ve developed so many leadership skills that have made me more confident in my ability to lead and succeed in whatever aspect of life I’m in. I don’t consider myself someone who naturally seeks leadership positions. I don’t like being in front of people. But if I can do it, I think many can. I have no regrets.”
