Job Description / Duties

Position:
The College of Health Professions invites applications for a renewable, non-tenure track, 10-month Lecturer position in the Exercise Science Program in the Department of Kinesiology beginning August 2019.

Responsibilities:
Teach four 3 credit hour courses per semester in the undergraduate Exercise Science program. Courses taught will vary but could include courses in foundations of exercise science, physical fitness assessment, clinical exercise assessment, exercise nutrition, and strength and conditioning. Traditional, hybrid, and online forms of teaching. Advise students and be assigned service/committee responsibilities as needed by the department, college and university. Possess strong skills related to mentoring undergraduates as they matriculate through the program and prepare to enter the profession.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Exercise Science or related discipline is required. Preference will be given to candidates who are ABD or hold a PhD in Exercise Science or related discipline. Candidates must have the training and background to teach Exercise Science courses in the core curriculum. Preference will be given to candidates that can teach across a variety of areas within the field and hold current certification through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-EP or ACSM-CEP) or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS). The successful candidate must have the ability to work with a diverse population and be sensitive to the education needs of these students.

The Department of Kinesiology, located within the College of Health Professions, has 30 full-time faculty and more than 1,400 undergraduate majors in Physical Education/Teacher Education, Athletic Training, Sport Management, and Exercise Science.
