We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-line faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Exercise Science in Ball State’s School of Kinesiology. The successful candidate will provide high quality teaching, primarily in the undergraduate Exercise Science program. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in research activities in their area(s) of expertise that lead to refereed publications and extramural funding. Active engagement in department, college, University, and professional service activities is also expected. The position includes a start-up package, graduate assistant support, and dedicated space in the Integrative Exercise Physiology Laboratory.

Position Function: The teaching load for this position is 9 semester hours or equivalent per academic semester. Responsibilities will include primarily teaching undergraduate courses in exercise science, with the possibility of teaching graduate courses in exercise physiology.

Research assigned time is 3 semester hours or equivalent per academic semester. Responsibilities include performing scholarly work in one’s area of expertise, pursuing and obtaining extramural funding, and showing continued evidence of research productivity in form of refereed publications and presentations.

Responsibilities include actively contributing to the intellectual and professional life in the School of Kinesiology, College of Health, Ball State University, and professional associations related to exercise science and/or one’s area of expertise.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include: an earned doctorate in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, or closely related field from an accredited college or university by time of appointment; the ability to teach courses in exercise science; and demonstrated performance in scholarly activities.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include: post-doctoral or other relevant research experience; evidence of an active research agenda that meets the needs of our department or otherwise complements scholarly work of current faculty; documentation of a successful, or potential for successful, extramural funding record; and experience in teaching courses in or related to exercise physiology, fitness testing and exercise prescription.
